Featured in Education Week: What Is Background Knowledge?

The renewed interest in research-based reading instruction (Science of Reading) has focused mainly on phonics instruction. That's not the only piece of the early literacy puzzle. Decades of evidence shows the importance of background knowledge. Education Week highlights the power of the Model of Reading Engagement (MORE) and the research done by Professor James Kim and the READS Lab.
