About the MORE Reading Fun App

This app is designed to foster metalinguistic abilities of children so they can read, spell, understand (a) appropriately challenging academic words and (b) conceptually related academic words that are common in academic domains like science and history and also laugh and love playing with language.

The MORE Reading Fun app activities are designed to foster transfer to students’ meta-linguistic ability - the ability to manipulate language, including sublexical units (morphemes and phonemes) and lexical/structural units (riddles, idioms, puns, metaphors, and similes).

We want kids to laugh and love playing with figurative language; to share figurative language activities with friends, teachers, and family members; and to develop cognitive flexibility in recognizing that language is an object that can be manipulated and help resolve semantic ambiguities.
